Communities in Schools is pleased to announce that the DTE Energy Foundation ($25,000) and the Ford Motor Company Fund ($10,000) are the Principal Sponsors for the 2019 Leadership in Education Dinner honoring Michigan State University Women’s Head Basketball Coach Suzy Merchant and DTE’s Vice President of Public Affairs, Nancy Moody on June 4, 2019 in East Lansing. Both women are being honored for their work across Michigan to support educational programs.
Communities In Schools of Michigan (CISM) continues to grow their footprint. In 2018, Benton Harbor High School became a CISM location. In 2019, 10 schools in Battle Creek will open, allowing CISM to serve thousands of students.
“The goal of CIS Michigan is to continue to support Integrated Student Support Services for as many students as possible around the State of Michigan to shrink the drop-out rate and keep students in schools,” said Mallory DePrekel, State Director of Communities In Schools of Michigan. “Generous donations like these will allow us to help more students stay in school and achieve in life.”
Each year Leadership in Education honorees are chosen for the annual dinner based on the impact they’ve had through their educational work in the State. Previous honorees include Ron Bieber, Tom Izzo and Kellie Dean. Sponsors to the dinner appreciate the benefits CISM brings to school districts throughout the State.
