  • Full Time/Salaried

    POSITION OVERVIEW: Reports to the Chief Executive Officer. The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is a senior leader responsible for shaping and driving the organization’s overall fundraising strategy to support mission growth and long-term sustainability. The CDO oversees all philanthropic efforts, including major gifts, major donors, corporate partnerships, campaigns, and national fundraising initiatives, while building the systems and processes needed to scale state-wide impact. They lead a team of advancement officers and managers, fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and meaningful donor engagement and relationship building. As a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, the CDO guides revenue strategy, expands the organization’s philanthropic reach, and ensures fundraising aligns with organizational priorities. The role also works closely with the Chief Strategy Officer as part of the Sustainability Team to strengthen infrastructure and support strategic organizational-wide growth.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE preferred

    • 8–10+ years of progressive fundraising experience, including major gifts and campaign leadership

    • 5+ years leading high-performing, multi-regional fundraising teams

    • Demonstrated success securing six- and seven-figure gifts across individual, corporate, and foundation donors

    • Experience leading capital, comprehensive, and public-facing campaigns from strategy through execution

    • Proven ability to build scalable fundraising systems, structures, and processes that support organizational growth

    • Strong partnership with executive leadership and Board of Directors

    • High level of integrity and discretion in managing confidential donor relationships and information

    • Proficiency with donor CRM systems (e.g., Little Green Light)

    • Passion for mission-driven work, with flexibility to travel statewide and attend occasional evening/weekend events

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    General - Strategic Leadership & Supervision

    • Lead, coach, and manage a team of regional advancement officers and managers with diverse portfolios including in-kind and monetary donations as well as volunteer placement and support

    • Ensure consistency in donor engagement strategies and messaging organization-wide

    • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, advising the CEO and Board on revenue strategy and philanthropic trends

    • Create reports for the CIS of Michigan board with statewide updates on fundraising and serves as primary contact for the Board Fundraising Committee, reporting to the full Board at least twice a year

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with organizational growth goals

    • Serve as liaison for National’s affinity groups in fundraising

    • Establish and monitor KPIs and performance metrics (e.g., donor visits, solicitations, revenue) using data and reporting to drive decision-making and team accountability

    Fund Development

    • Oversee development operations including CRM strategy, data integrity, and reporting

    • Collaborate cross-functionally with the Strategy Team to support and align efforts across state and federal grant strategy, statewide marketing campaigns, and local and foundation grant writing and prospecting

    • Ensure alignment between national strategy and regional execution

    • Identify risks and opportunities and adjust strategy accordingly

    • Serve as primary liaison to the Board and Board Fundraising Committee, providing regular updates, statewide reporting, and strategic insights on fundraising performance

    • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Marketing/Communications, Program, and Strategy teams to align fundraising efforts, improve processes, ensure compliance, and connect donor engagement to mission impact

    • Develop and manage the development budget, including revenue and expense oversight, to meet annual financial goals

    Operations, Infrastructure and Cross Function Collaboration

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Primarily remote work environment with regular virtual collaboration

    • Required to work from the CISM home office or satellite offices at least twice a week

    • Statewide travel required to support partnerships, events, and CISM initiatives

    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • POSITION OVERVIEW:

    Reports to the Program Director. The Student Support Coordinator is responsible for

    implementation of the CIS Model at the assigned school.

    Initial Implementation Role:

    In April-June 2024, the Student Support Coordinator (SSC) will collaborate with the Program Director to conduct Needs Assessments (NA) and Support Plans (SP) for schools that are new to the CIS partnership (4 schools in Benton Harbor). CIS of Michigan will support with making initial connections to district staff and principals, and the SSC will be responsible for building and strengthening those relationships to aid in the NA and SP process.

    The NA and SP process will involve regular travel to these school sites and communication with school- and district- level staff, students, families, and community members. It will also involve a detailed writeup of findings into the NA and SP templates, and entry into our proprietary data management system. Strong organization, communication, and writing skills are required. The SSC will receive training in how to conduct a CIS Needs Assessment and Support Plan. These Needs Assessments and Support Plans are due in June 2024.

    Additionally, the Student Support Coordinator will work with the Program Director to design and implement Tier I supports April-September 2024.

    Beyond September 2024, the Student Support Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the CIS Model at their assigned school (Benton Harbor High School).

    Coordinate Needed Services for Students and Families & Provide Case Management Services:

    ● Design, implement, and partner with community organizations in order to coordinate programs, services, and resources that will benefit prioritized students as well as the entire student population (Tier I, II and III) within the CIS Service Delivery Model

    ● Work in collaboration with the CISM Program Director to lead efforts to broker resources for the school community and connect resources to meet identified needs of case managed students

    ● Provide case management services to students who have multiple identified needs or challenges according to their Student Needs Assessments by providing Tier II and III supports. Support categories include: academics, basic needs, behavioral interventions, college and career readiness, physical health, mental health, and social and life skills.

    ● Provide ongoing monitoring in the areas of attendance, behavior, coursework, and social emotional learning to ensure student-level data is accurately being assessed for growth and support needs

    ● Advocate for access to educational and health resources (physical and mental health) through an equity lens

    ● Provide appropriate referrals to outside agencies for students and families and brokerin-school supports to eliminate access barriers

    ● Maintain secure case files on each student who is case managed

    Collect, Report, and Analyze Data:

    ● Collect and enter data, and complete required reports by deadlines (monthly, quarterly and annually) utilizing the approved data management system (CISDM)

    ● Utilize available data to adjust School Support Plans as appropriate

    ● Evaluate the effectiveness of supports in achieving school and student individualized goals

    ● Create midyear and end-of-year reports for school and affiliate leadership

    Implementation:

    ● Support the implementation of programming in new schools, which includes completion of Needs Assessments and Support Plans, as described above
