  • Contract/Hourly

    POSITION OVERVIEW: The Graphic Design & Social Media Specialist will design and create content for social media, marketing, and fundraising initiatives. This role will be approximately 60% social media content creation & management, and the other 40% will comprise of assisting the Marketing Director with graphic design. This person is responsible for designing helpful, engaging and valuable content to promote CIS of Michigan’s mission while successfully translating national branding standards to visual expression.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience working with mission based organizations or the field of education

    • Post secondary education in Graphic/Fine Art Design, Marketing, Digital Design, or related field

    • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), and with Canva

    • Extensive experience in managing social media, including creating and posting engaging reels, videos, and stories on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn

    • Experience designing digital content, including content for websites and newsletters

    • Ability to work independently, multi-task and enjoy interfacing with staff

    • Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently

    • Strong writing skills for social media content creation

    • Innate creativity and attention to detail are essential

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Regularly create social media content, including designing images, creating and posting engaging reels, videos, and stories and written content

    • Plan, schedule, and publish posts, reels, videos, and stories to maintain a consistent and engaging social media presence

    • Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and engage in the online community

    • Create visually compelling designs for various digital and print materials

    • Make copy changes, proofread, and ensure content is press-ready

    • Follow brand standards for all graphic design and social media content

    • Work with the Marketing Director and Chief Strategy Officer on CIS of Michigan’s overall creative direction

    • Perform administrative tasks and other duties as required

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • 10-15 hours a week, varies depending on seasonal needs

  • POSITION OVERVIEW:

    Reports to the Program Director. The Student Support Coordinator is responsible for

    implementation of the CIS Model at the assigned school.

    Initial Implementation Role:

    In April-June 2024, the Student Support Coordinator (SSC) will collaborate with the Program Director to conduct Needs Assessments (NA) and Support Plans (SP) for schools that are new to the CIS partnership (4 schools in Benton Harbor). CIS of Michigan will support with making initial connections to district staff and principals, and the SSC will be responsible for building and strengthening those relationships to aid in the NA and SP process.

    The NA and SP process will involve regular travel to these school sites and communication with school- and district- level staff, students, families, and community members. It will also involve a detailed writeup of findings into the NA and SP templates, and entry into our proprietary data management system. Strong organization, communication, and writing skills are required. The SSC will receive training in how to conduct a CIS Needs Assessment and Support Plan. These Needs Assessments and Support Plans are due in June 2024.

    Additionally, the Student Support Coordinator will work with the Program Director to design and implement Tier I supports April-September 2024.

    Beyond September 2024, the Student Support Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the CIS Model at their assigned school (Benton Harbor High School).

Support categories include: academics, basic needs, behavioral interventions, college and career readiness, physical health, mental health, and social and life skills.

    ● Provide ongoing monitoring in the areas of attendance, behavior, coursework, and social emotional learning to ensure student-level data is accurately being assessed for growth and support needs

    ● Advocate for access to educational and health resources (physical and mental health) through an equity lens

    ● Provide appropriate referrals to outside agencies for students and families and brokerin-school supports to eliminate access barriers

    ● Maintain secure case files on each student who is case managed

    Collect, Report, and Analyze Data:

    ● Collect and enter data, and complete required reports by deadlines (monthly, quarterly and annually) utilizing the approved data management system (CISDM)

  • POSITION OVERVIEW: Reports to the Chief Operations Officer. The Director, Accounting and Finance is a full time position located in the CIS of Michigan Lansing office. The Director, Accounting and Finance has the responsibility for the implementation and monitoring of financial, accounting, insurance, and audit functions of the organization. The Director, Accounting and Finance advises the Board of Directors and department heads on business functions of the organization and the sustainability of these functions. They work with others to ensure these functions are carried out in a consistent and legal manner based upon organizational policies and the General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) . _____________________________________________________________________________________

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Expert in accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct and Martus systems are used by CISM)

    2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment

    Experience with pass through funding

    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

    Exceptional organizational skills; ability to maintain composure in a busy environment

    Demonstrated effectiveness in written and verbal communication skills

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Oversee budgeting, general ledger and accounting functions and systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP and Non-Profit standards and regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate financial accounts.

    Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and deposits.

    Record donations, grants, and other income, ensuring proper classification and tracking.

    Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other expenses monthly.

    Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries.

    Prepare and post journal entries as directed and needed.

    Manage the month end closing process and ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly in a timely manner.

    Prepare, analyze and submit monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to senior management, the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.

    Work closely with the board of directors and finance committee, providing financial insights and recommendations at board meetings.

    Monitor cash flow and liquidity, making recommendations to ensure the organization has adequate funds for operational needs.

    Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.

    Work with the Chief Program Officer to ensure School District Contracts are accurately reflected in the budget and invoicing system.

    Work collaboratively with the Development Team to accurately record grants and donations, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.

    Coordinate with the HR team to ensure all payroll, tax and benefit transactions are properly captured and recorded in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.

    Along with the Grantee (point CISM person for grant), oversee the maintenance of the grant accounting system. Ensure accurate product standards are developed and maintained.

    Collaborate with staff to update financial policies and procedures to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance.

    Identify and assess financial risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them.

    Manage the coordination and completeness of the annual financial audit and corresponding CIS annual reports (financial data only).

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Ability to travel throughout Michigan

    Must have reliable personal transportation and a valid driver’s license

    Consistent attendance - must work from CIS office headquarters at least three days a week
